The Hitchhiker's Guide to Security
During a life of a security person, there are many stages. Some of which may include living in denial, feeling of utter helplessness and joy of living thankfulness for surviving another day. In other stages, we get some mean good stuff done during our everlasting preparations for the worst, lock & load style. And sometimes, we wonder how in the world we got to where we are now. What would happen if we took another path during our careers? What if we were, say, writing fiction that both we and our readers enjoy?
But what if we reverse this? What would happen if we put other folks in our shoes? I often wonder what life would look like if, say, Douglas Adams, would have been an InfoSec person. Imagine if he wrote his famous 6 part trilogy as a security person. It could have looked like something like the following:
- The Hitchhiker’s Guide to
the UniverseSecurity- Defense in depth with Deep Thought or why we need 42 walls
- How to bulldoze an Earth-sized computer in a jiffy
- Visiting alien spaceships - always bring your best OPSEC game
